WHEN I WALK INTO my apartment, I debate if I should text him or not. I really don’t want to, just to spite him, but then I realize a small part of me wants to. I pull my phone out and slide my finger to the right of the screen to unlock it. I press the phone icon and see he entered his name, plain and simple: GREYSON. I press on his name and quickly type out that I am home and safe, and send it. Exhaustion takes over, and I wander into my room, but I never make it past my bed. I crash on it, and the sound of my phone beeping with incoming messages don’t even wake me. I simply pass out as soon as my head touches the pillow.

When my alarm clock blares, I sit straight up in confusion. I look down and see I never changed. I’ve been wearing the same clothes for the last twenty-four hours. I shut off my alarm and pick up my cell to check my texts. I see two messages from Greyson.

Thank you.

Sweet dreams, Trouble.

The smile on my lips is foreign, and I hate that I smiled over a text, but the organ in my chest beats a little faster. Groaning at myself, I get out of my cozy bed and step into a hot shower where I can clear my head and come up with a game plan for today. I know my father will be making his presence known in some shape or form. I desperately need to contact Reilly to make sure he is up-to-date and to make sure I am up-to-date on everything. I never can pinpoint exactly what Liam is up to.

When I get into the office, I find my coffee on my desk and I practically dive to it. Its perfection makes me want to hug the worst assistant in the world, almost.

“Hey, sweet pea.” I look up to see Will walking in.

“Hey.” I situate myself and start to pull up my calendar on my computer.

“Mother called me last night.” This makes me look up at him.

“She said she tried calling you first, but you didn’t answer.” My brows scrunch together, and I take my phone out and pull up my missed calls. That’s when I see that she called at one in the morning, and I was sleeping. I passed out like no one’s business, last night. I don’t think a marching band could have woken me up. I guess that’s what happens when you have amazing sex followed by a two-hour scalp and arm massage. I could so do that every night. Wait. What? I don’t need to do that every night. If I do, I will hire a damn masseuse.

“She called at one in the morning, Will,” I inform him.

“Ives, you always answer. You’ve answered during sex before.” I roll my eyes at him and pick at the lint that isn’t on my shirt.

“No, I haven’t, and I was sleeping. I didn’t even change my clothes last night.
